Changing the Host of Reference Points in Revit
In Revit, you can reassign reference points to different hosts based on their subject. This allows you to switch their association to other spline curves, reference planes, edges, or surfaces. To do this in the conceptual design environment, first select the points whose hosts you want to change.
Next, go to the Modify | Reference Point tab and select the Change Point Subject panel to pick a new host.
If you want to assign the reference point to a specific work plane, use the Options Bar. Under Subject, choose the desired work plane from the dropdown list.
Then, click to specify the new position for the reference point.
When you change a point’s host, all geometry tied to that work plane will move along with the point, maintaining their relative positions.
Changing Host Based on Spline Curves
When a spline curve is applied as the host of a point in the work plane, changing the driving point’s subject causes all related geometry to move accordingly. If you assign a spline curve as the new host, the driving point becomes a point hosted on that spline curve.
The original spline curve used as the point’s host remains editable and will adjust based on the new position of the host.
When switching the host to a different work plane, the point continues to act as the driving point, but its position and orientation update to align with the new plane.
