BIM Architecture: Maolin Qingquan’s Burning Spray Nose Tea House by Hehe Design Studio

Located in the southwest of Qingyuan Mountain National 5A Scenic Area in Quanzhou City, Cha Yan Guan She sits at an elevation of 250 to 300 meters. The area is renowned for its clear mountain springs and lush greenery, earning it the nickname “natural oxygen bar.” This project involved the transformation of an old tea factory originally built in the 1980s. The design studio was responsible for the comprehensive planning, architecture, landscape, and interior design of the site.

In designing the architectural form, the team at BIM Learning skillfully integrated the building with the natural terrain of Qingyuan Mountain and the surrounding ecological tea fields. This approach reduces the visual impact of the building’s volume on the mountain and environment. The flowing, undulating sloped roof creates a harmonious dialogue with the landscape. Tea rooms and guest accommodations are designed to minimize human interference and embrace natural design elements. Each of the 18 guest rooms features a private entrance and terrace, with windows offering stunning mountain views.

The interiors are predominantly characterized by white spaces combined with Zen-inspired design. Large floor-to-ceiling glass windows ensure that the beautiful mountain scenery remains visible, allowing guests to enjoy the view even from indoors.

The building’s continuous, undulating sloped roof mirrors the natural contours of Qingyuan Mountain. A thoughtfully designed wind and rain corridor connects the old and new structures, guiding guests smoothly from public areas to their rooms. Locally sourced materials such as white walls, gray tiles, stones, wooden boards, and greenery are used throughout. The Japanese-inspired landscape of withered mountains and water quietly tells the story of local tea culture, creating a timeless atmosphere that invites visitors to lose themselves in nature.
