Overview
Ancient poetry possesses a unique magic—it can capture the mood of time and space with just a few words. Though brief, its sentiments run deep. Reflected in the interplay of light and shadow over the water bath, in the quiet courtyard, one can quietly gaze at the few stars mirrored on the surface, feeling a serene and refreshing breath. Within this center of artistic living, visitors can temporarily escape life’s worries and the city’s hustle, much like attending a long-awaited art exhibition, reading a captivating book, savoring a fragrant pot of tea, and finding peace for both body and mind.

Exterior Design
Chinese artists have long excelled at capturing artistic essence with minimal strokes. Designers versed in this tradition applied simple interlocking blocks to craft the spatial experience of the Shenyang Quanyun Wanda Plaza Life Art Center. The upper layer of cement board, sourced by Zhang Yang, contrasts sharply with the glass box, evoking a sense of aloofness and detachment.
The interplay between folded glass panels and wood-colored aluminum alloy not only highlights facade detail but also, combined with night lighting, creates the impression of several open doors, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. Elements reminiscent of water baths, frogs, and leaves break spatial boundaries, contributing to the artistic ambiance.
Through simple yet deliberate control of materials, lighting, and environmental respect, the designers achieved a balance of coolness and warmth throughout the art center.

Exhibition Center Lobby.

Suspended sculpture installation.
The entrance sequence guides the visitor’s gaze forward, revealing subtle sculptures and the courtyard landscape beyond. The building’s high ceiling, nearby spatial proportions, and hints of future extensions enhance the spatial hierarchy.
A mirror stone floor beneath the sculpture, combined with gentle skylight illumination, adds vertical depth to the space. The first floor is divided into three zones: a sand table area to the sculpture’s right, and a commercial negotiation space behind it. The sand table features an expansive, lofty design, emphasizing its central role within the building.

The far end of the first floor – a warm and comfortable negotiation area.

The second floor features a corridor space ideal for small art exhibitions. Large French windows provide panoramic views of the adjacent city central public park (BIM design), while allowing natural sunlight to illuminate the interior, infusing it with brightness and warmth.
Key Features

Realistic image of the indoor reading staircase.
The staircase, symbolized by books, connects the upper and lower levels. Alongside the wall, shelves display a variety of books and artworks. The wide steps and deliberately thick railings enhance the functionality of this vertical circulation, creating a space that invites lingering as well as passing through. Climbing the stairs, visitors can admire artworks step by step, enjoying the spiritual solace they provide.

Meaning and Atmosphere

Realistic view of the turning glass grille.
The landscape design embodies the designer’s vision for spatial atmosphere and environmental respect. Ascending a few steps, the large water bath reflects the mountainous textures engraved on the entrance facade. A solitary tree within a clear pool, using the concept of “seeing the big through the small,” accentuates the clean, crisp architectural environment, fully expressing the freehand brushwork design philosophy.
On an early autumn evening, descending the steps slowly, one can witness the water bath mirrors, lights resembling the Milky Way, and a cool breeze passing through. Reflecting on the exhibition just experienced, a sigh escapes with dreams sinking and books drifting far away.

Real-life image.
In the subtle detailing of the landscape sketches, a poetic essence emerges. Water droplets falling onto the platform create ripples, reminiscent of a gentle spring drizzle.
Following the winding landscape path behind the building, a copper-colored corridor frames a solitary tree standing at its center, adding warmth to the otherwise quiet space.
