The name Three Friends of Winter perfectly captures the essence of pine, bamboo, and plum trees, which endure the cold winter with admirable resilience. This spirit inspired three close friends to establish a high-end private restaurant that embodies this sentiment through thoughtful exploration and design.

This two-story commercial storefront benefits from an impressively high first-floor ceiling. Inspired by the name Three Friends of the Cold Year and its scholarly atmosphere, the design draws on the elegance and grandeur of the Tang Dynasty. The architectural style reflects the wooden column and beam structures typical of the Tang era, utilizing simple, unadorned materials to evoke a refined and timeless aesthetic.

Water management here is not only a nod to the aesthetic traditions of classical Chinese landscape design but also captures the natural charm of the environment. The entrance features a ceremonial long sloping corridor, where a solid walnut pillar rises from the water view to support the structure. This pillar connects seamlessly to a countertop that forms a geometric consultation desk in the front hall. A large wooden screen divides the entrance area, blending solid and void to create a dynamic play of shadows.

The reception area is thoughtfully designed as a Tang-style bookshelf and library, filling the hall with the comforting scent of books. To enhance the spatial experience, the ceiling features a wooden structure that lowers the height above the front desk, fostering a closer, more intimate connection between staff and guests while balancing the proportions of the space harmoniously.

Tang-style architecture is renowned for balancing strength with beauty, combining rigor and grandeur seamlessly. This spatial passage draws inspiration from that tradition. Featuring walnut columns with a display style connected to ceiling flying beams, the design interprets the unity between individual elements and the whole through simple architectural techniques. Axis symmetry simplifies complexity, while modern craftsmanship redefines architectural beauty.

The private dining room continues to showcase walnut wood and brass columns as structural supports, complemented by light gray natural stone walls. This combination creates a tranquil, luxurious atmosphere that epitomizes the core aesthetics of Tang-style design.
