Understanding Revit MEP Riser Representation in Plan View

How to Customize Revit MEP Riser Appearance in Plan View

When using Revit MEP to create 2D representations in floor plans, the default display may not always meet your requirements. In such cases, adjustments are necessary! Some users might instinctively select the pipe and look for modification options in the instance properties; however, after a long search, they often realize that this feature is not available there.

Instead, changes need to be made within the pipeline system settings, as custom symbols are not supported for this element.

Be sure to set the view’s detail level to either Coarse or Medium, and switch the visual style to Wireframe to properly see the modifications.

After updating the symbol, some users might feel that the symbol appears too large or disproportionate (for example, in the case of a pipeline well component they created). So, how can you adjust the size?

Open the Mechanical Settings by clicking on the System tab, then click the dropdown arrow at the lower right corner of the mechanical panel to access the pipeline settings. There, you will find the option labeled Pipeline Lifting/Lowering Annotation Size.

Adjust this value to 1mm to achieve a more balanced appearance.
