How to Create Parts in Revit
You can create parts from selected elements within the current project or linked models in the drawing area. For elements that have layers or subcomponents—such as walls—individual parts will be generated for each layer. For other elements, a separate part element will be created. These parts can later be divided into smaller sections as needed. Note that project parameters, shared parameters, and elevation data will be carried over to the parts.
Step 1: Select the Element
In the drawing area, choose the element from which you want to create parts.
Step 2: Access the Create Parts Tool
Click the Modify | <element Type> tab, then find the Create panel and select Create Parts.
Alternative Method
Alternatively, go to the Modify tab, locate the Create panel, and click Create Parts.
Step 3: Select Elements to Convert
With the tool active, only elements eligible for part creation can be selected; ineligible elements appear faded or in half tones.
Step 4: Complete the Operation
Press Enter or the Spacebar to finish creating parts.
