How to Add Images to a Schedule in Revit
Many students are unfamiliar with using images in Revit, especially when it comes to detail schedules. They often don’t know how to properly add images to these schedules. Today, we will explain how to include images in detail schedules effectively.
1. You can add either the “Image” or “Type Image” fields to your detail schedule. For example, in schedules involving rebar shapes, you can add the “Shape Image” field.
Now, you might wonder: what is the difference between the “Image” and “Type Image” fields?
The distinction is similar to the difference between instances and types in Revit. The “Image” field affects only a single family instance, whereas the “Type Image” applies to the entire family type. For example, “Shape Image” shares the same characteristics as the “Type Image” field.
2. After adding these fields to your schedule, you need to load the images into your project. The image displayed in the “Image” field is added through the instance properties of the family, as illustrated below.
3. How do you add an image to the “Type Image” field? You need to enter the family editing mode and add the image within the family type properties. Similarly, for a steel bar family, you must enter its editing mode to add the image, as shown in the example below.
4. Sometimes, you may notice that the schedule does not display the images as expected. What should you do in this situation?
5. The solution is simple: drag the schedule view onto the drawing sheet. Once placed on the sheet, the images will appear, completing the rendering process.
