How to Calculate the Amount of Plastering Work for Doors and Windows in Revit
In Revit, you can calculate the quantity of plastering work by utilizing the schedule function. But how exactly do you calculate the plastering work for doors and windows using this feature? Below is a simple explanation using doors as an example.
1. Start by creating a new project and placing a door. Then, select and double-click the door family to edit it. Add shared instance parameters such as Width (representing the width to be used in the plastering calculation), as illustrated in the image below.
2. Reload the modified door family back into the project and create a new schedule. Select the door category and add the necessary fields, including family and type, width, and height. Next, input the calculated value into the area formula to represent the plastering quantity calculation, as shown in the figure.
3. Adjust the schedule details to obtain the quantity information, as demonstrated in the image below.
Summary: From the steps above, we learn that by adding new required parameters to the door family and combining them with the schedule’s calculated values function, you can effectively calculate engineering quantities. While this example focuses on doors, the same approach can be applied to other components that require quantity takeoffs, making full use of Revit’s built-in features.
