This project is a compact home designed for a couple who have chosen not to have children, making them the sole occupants. Interestingly, each partner has a distinct private world and lifestyle, yet they embrace and accept each other’s differences.

The male partner is passionate about baking bread and photography, making the kitchen his primary space. Meanwhile, the female partner, a BIM architect who enjoys drawing, desires a large workspace for reading and writing. The architect’s concept was to foster mutual understanding by allowing each to see the other’s world from their own domain.

Given the limited site area and budget, the two main living areas are arranged on separate levels: the female partner occupies the upper level, while the male partner uses the lower level. The designers aligned these main functional spaces vertically, using a large glass tabletop for the female partner’s workspace. This design creates a visual connection with the kitchen below, allowing them to see each other while engaged in their respective activities.

Section 2
The second floor is designed as a stepped space divided into three connected sections. This layout prevents the living room below from having a direct view of the upper space, yet keeps the owners’ favorite areas visually connected. All upper-level spaces are enclosed with double-layer wooden screens that provide privacy, reduce heat loss, and can be opened when desired. These screens feature notches to allow easy maintenance.
Because the female partner loves reading, most of the walls upstairs have been transformed into bookshelves, complemented by skylights that brighten the hallway above.
