BIM Software Tip: How to Display Hidden Lines in Revit Structural Concrete Components
Revit allows you to control the appearance of structural concrete components when they are hidden in a view. The display of hidden lines on walls, floors, beams, columns, and foundation elements is managed through specific view parameters.
Key Rule: Set the visual style to Structure only. This setting enables hidden lines to be represented as hidden.
Additionally, the visual style must be set to either Hidden or Shaded (in the Graphic Display Options dialog, select Display Edges). Only under these conditions will hidden lines appear correctly.
To customize the hidden line pattern, go to the Manage tab, then to the Settings panel. From the dropdown list, select Additional Settings, and then choose Line Patterns.
Please note, when working with structural floor slabs and beams constructed with concrete walls, the on-screen display of hidden lines may not exactly match the vector output. For example, if a wall endpoint is obscured by a slab, some edges may not appear hidden in the plan view, whereas edges of the floor slab will consistently display as hidden.
