BIM Software Tip: The Advantages of Adding a Transparent Insulation Layer in Revit
Did you notice the air duct in the image? The thermal insulation layer is also shown, and both look very clear and well defined.
Therefore, I recommend adding a thermal insulation layer when working in Revit, and setting it to be semi-transparent.
What happens if you don’t set transparency?
If the insulation layer isn’t set to be transparent, it will display the same color as the air duct. This makes it difficult to highlight the insulation layer when selecting it, so you might not realize it’s been selected.
Also, when modifying the duct, if the insulation layer isn’t transparent, you have to remove the insulation first to ensure you’ve selected the duct.
Here are the benefits of using a transparent insulation layer:
1. The air duct and insulation layer are clearly distinguishable, allowing you to see the duct inside.
2. It solves all the issues mentioned above, making your workflow smoother.
