Mastering Revit MEP: A Guide to View Templates - Part 4

BIM Software Tip: Revit MEP View Template – 4

View templates allow you to quickly apply desired drawing styles, color schemes, and more, making the drafting process much easier. However, if certain floors or elements require temporary or alternative styles, you can also make adjustments through view templates temporarily.

1. First, let’s create a view template and define the color and style for the circulating water supply and return pipes.

Save this as a water pipe template.

Next, replace the filter with VG and uncheck the box at the end.

When applying this to other floor elevations using their water pipe samples, you’ll notice that the filter’s color standard does not update along with the established water pipe samples.

To fix this, we can redefine a new color scheme.

By checking the box for the VG/replacement filter at the end, you will see that it adopts the same color scheme defined in the water pipe template.

The same principle applies to other types. Although we develop a view template, it may not be suitable for all views. For some views, specific drawing requirements call for temporary or modified information. In such cases, you can uncheck the corresponding options in the view template to customize the display as needed.
