On March 29, 2012, the inaugural session of the “Construction• isBIM” BIM Design Competition was successfully held at our university. This event was jointly organized by the School of Electrical and Information Engineering and Beijing Internet Cube Technology Service Co., Ltd. (isBIM).
BIM, or Building Information Modeling, is an innovative technology that elevates information technology within the construction industry to new heights. It utilizes three-dimensional digital technology to integrate comprehensive engineering data and information models related to construction projects, providing detailed representations of project-specific information. Currently, there is a strong demand for BIM professionals in China’s construction and related industries.
The competition aims to enhance students’ practical skills, employability, and creativity, while cultivating applied architectural talents who meet the evolving needs of the country, the capital, and society at large.
The contest focused on modeling a specific office building located in Shaoyaoju. It spanned over three months, during which the School of Telecommunications offered a series of lectures to help students quickly get up to speed. Despite the relatively short preparation time, the students produced high-quality work that earned praise from Mr. Liu Yang, General Manager of Beijing Internet Cube Technology Service Co., Ltd. (isBIM).
The “Construction• isBIM” BIM Design Competition is planned to become an annual event.
