How to Use Two Viewports in AutoCAD

BIM Software Tips: How to Use Two Viewports in AutoCAD

Question:

Is there a way to zoom in on a specific area for detailed editing while simultaneously viewing a broader graphic in another synchronized viewport?

Solution:

To set up two viewports in AutoCAD, follow these steps:

  • From the drop-down menu, navigate to View Settings > Viewports > 2 Viewports > Vertical.
  • Alternatively, from the ribbon, go to the View tab, then select Viewport Configuration > Two: Vertical.

This will split your workspace into two separate viewports, allowing you to work efficiently with different zoom levels simultaneously.

If you are using a dual monitor setup, you can freely resize and adjust the two viewports to fit across your screens, centered within the main AutoCAD application window.
