BIM Software Tip: How to Fix the Crash That Occurs When Closing Revit
Issue:
When closing Revit, you may encounter an error message stating: “A fatal error occurred; readjusting may cause a crash.”
Cause:
This problem is usually caused by corrupted or problematic add-in modules.
Solution:
To identify which add-in is causing the issue, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the folder: C:ProgramDataAutodeskRevitAddins2014
2. Copy all the add-in files from this folder to your desktop as a backup.
3. Delete all the add-in files from the original folder.
4. Restart Revit and check if the crash occurs.
If Revit runs smoothly without crashing, proceed to:
5. One by one, copy each add-in file back into the original folder.
6. After adding each file, start and then close Revit to test whether the crash reappears.
7. Repeat this process until you identify the add-in that causes the crash.
Once you find the problematic add-in, uninstall it via the Control Panel and then reinstall it to resolve the issue.
