BIM Software Tip: Useful Features for Linking Models in Revit

When creating drawings for mechanical and electrical projects, the building’s base map plays a crucial role. By linking the architectural model as a base map, you can easily reference it while working on your mechanical and electrical designs.

1. First, obtain the architectural model to use as the base map for your mechanical and electrical drawings.

2. In your electromechanical project, link the architectural building model.

3. You may notice that the building base map does not appear as expected.

4. To resolve this, adjust the linked model’s visibility settings accordingly.

5. Change the main view to a custom view.

6. Set the linked model’s view to your custom view (e.g., Funding View-1).

By following these steps, you can effectively use the architectural blueprint as the foundation for your mechanical and electrical work. I hope this tip helps everyone!
