BIM Software Tip: Understanding the Relationship Between Frame Rate and Image Quality in Navisworks
To adjust the frame rate, open a standard file and click on the File Options under the main window menu. In the File Options window, you will find the frame rate settings.
This parameter controls the smoothness of the display. By default, the system sets it to 6. Increasing this value results in smoother motion; however, fewer elements are visible on the screen, which can cause a flickering effect. Setting it to 1 displays the full model clearly but may cause the interface to feel sluggish. On the other hand, setting it to 24 allows for very smooth movement, yet many parts of the model might flicker.
Therefore, it’s best to adjust the frame rate to a value that balances smoothness and visual stability according to your needs. Below are examples of frame rates set at 1, 6, and 20 respectively.
Additionally, by clicking the middle mouse button, you can view the status buffer value in the bottom right corner of the interface. Note that as the frame rate increases, the buffer size also grows.
