BIM Software Tip: Navisworks 4D Simulation Steps

1. First, adjust the view to clearly see the entire model.

2. Open the timeline module.

3. Navigate to the “Link” tab.

4. Right-click on the name and select “Add Link”. Then choose the appropriate document type.

5. Browse to the folder where your prepared construction details table is stored, and select the corresponding file.

6. In the field selector dialog box, map the timeline columns to the matching columns in the details table. Import the task type into the external field name, leave other fields as default, and click OK.

7. Right-click the new link in the name list and choose “Reconstruct Task Hierarchy through Link”.

8. Under the task, you will see all data from the detailed table, including the task’s start and end times. The task names will also correspond to the previously added search sets.

9. Return to the Rules tab.

10. Select the option to use the same name, map the timeline task from the name list to the selection set, and click Apply.

11. Go to the Simulation tab.

12. A timeline spanning the entire project duration will be displayed, allowing you to view the progress at any time. You can also play the simulation to watch the full process.
