BIM Software Tip: Editing Issues with Revit Link Files
When a main project file is linked to an external file, it may be necessary to make changes to that linked file. However, attempting to edit the link file directly from the main project often triggers a warning dialog box, as shown below. Proceeding may force the link file to be unloaded.
So, how can you avoid this problem and safely edit the linked file?
The solution is to open a separate instance of the Revit application and then open the linked file for editing. This method prevents the warning dialog (see Figure 1) from appearing, allowing you to edit and save the linked file without any issues.
