BIM Software Tip: Precautions for Installing Autodesk Software on Windows 10
For Windows 10 users, please ensure that the following Microsoft updates are installed via Windows Update:
- KB3081448
- KB3081449
- KB3081452
If you encounter a .NET error, try one of the following solutions:
- Edit the registry to modify the system’s .NET version:
Press Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog. Type RegEdit and click OK.
Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv4Client
In the right pane, locate the Version value.
Double-click on Version and change its value to 4.5.
Close the Registry Editor and proceed with the Autodesk software installation.
After the installation completes, reopen Registry Editor and revert the Version value back to its original .NET version.
Note: These steps can also help resolve issues with Autodesk 2015 products on Windows 7 and 8 systems.
Additionally, if you wish to exclude a specific Autodesk product during installation, you can deselect it in the installation package to prevent it from being installed.
Important: When installing Autodesk software on Windows 10, make sure that Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 is installed afterward.
To verify or enable .NET Framework 4.6:
- Open Programs and Features, then click on Turn Windows features on or off.
- Ensure that .NET Framework 4.6 Advanced Services or a partially selected box (solid black) is checked.
