BIM Software Tip: Navisworks Automatically Saves Your Work
Most design and office software, such as AutoCAD and Word, include automatic backup or saving features. Navisworks is no exception. If the software crashes unexpectedly or closes without saving, you can recover your work by locating the automatically saved backup files.
So, where can you find these backup files? Let’s explore.
By default, Navisworks saves backups to the following directory: C:Users[YourUsername]AppDataRoamingAutodeskNavisworks Manage 2015AutoSave. Note that this path may vary depending on your version of Navisworks.
Additionally, you have the option to change this backup location. You can adjust it in the program’s settings or set it to save backups in the same folder as your main project file. It’s also useful to check what file format the backups are saved in to ensure compatibility during recovery.
