BIM Software Tip: Navisworks 2017 New Features
The 2017 release of Navisworks® products—including Navisworks® Simulate, Navisworks® Manage, and Navisworks® Freedom—introduces several enhancements. These include project tracking tools, improved interoperability, integrated 2D analysis, and cloud-based rendering capabilities.
Coordinate BIM 360 Shared Views (Navisworks Manage, Navisworks Simulate)
Users connected to BIM 360 Glue projects can now share views created from review and analysis activities. A folder structure can be established within BIM 360 Glue to organize these views. Views generated in Navisworks 2017 or BIM 360 Glue can be shared with project teams, enabling real-time collaboration across different clients.
Model Review Redline Annotation Tools (Navisworks Manage, Navisworks Simulate)
The redline annotation tools have been improved, allowing users to add arrow-style redline annotations. This enhancement increases clarity and makes annotations easier to manage.
Quantitative 2D PDF Reader (Navisworks Manage, Navisworks Simulate)
Quantitative workflows are now more flexible with the addition of a 2D PDF reader. Navisworks supports Adobe PDF files, which can be used to incorporate 2D design data into quantity extraction processes. PDFs are displayed in full detail, including lines, text, colors, and shading, helping to present complex drawings more clearly and simplifying the preparation of calculation documents.
