Nanning Accelerates the Informatization of BIM Technology Applications
To enable data sharing and comprehensive information management throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects, promote green building development, and advance smart city construction, Nanning City is rapidly developing 3D digital simulation models based on BIM technology. The city is also establishing a city-level BIM technology application management center.
Currently, the preliminary design for the Nanning BIM Technology Application Management Center (Phase I) has been approved. This project will integrate BIM technology with GIS, mobile internet, and other cutting-edge technologies to build a data service platform. It will include systems for electronic review and delivery of construction drawings, construction quality and safety supervision assistance, completion acceptance assistance, and BIM model management.
The Nanning BIM Technology Application Management Center aims to enable virtual design, visual decision-making, and collaborative construction management. Once completed, it will significantly enhance engineering planning, surveying, design, construction, and operational management. This will reduce errors, shorten construction timelines, and improve project quality and investment returns.
Fujian Increases Promotion of BIM Pilot Demonstration Projects
To accelerate the integrated use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology throughout planning, surveying, design, construction, and operations, the Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development of Fujian Province recently organized the second batch of BIM pilot demonstration projects. The plan includes at least 30 pilot projects in Fuzhou and Xiamen, no less than 10 in Quanzhou and Zhangzhou, and at least 5 in other cities, including Pingtan.
In 2016, Fujian Province completed 77 pilot demonstration projects. The new batch focuses on technically complex projects requiring high management coordination, with investments exceeding 100 million yuan or building areas over 20,000 square meters. Key project types include prefabricated buildings, green buildings, urban rail transit, sponge cities, and comprehensive pipe galleries. Cities with suitable conditions are encouraged to promote BIM applications in green ecological urban areas, eco-clusters, and eco-communities, as well as in social investment projects.
The pilot initiative will begin with large-scale project construction units and top-tier real estate development companies. It aims to build a collaborative management platform based on BIM technology, facilitating coordination and information sharing among all stages and participants throughout the project lifecycle.
The Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development of Fujian Province requires Class A planning, surveying, and design firms to establish BIM technology centers. Special-grade and first-class construction enterprises are encouraged to integrate BIM applications into their core technology centers and actively promote BIM adoption. The Fujian BIM Technology Application Alliance will offer technical guidance and organize experts for one-on-one project support within the demonstration program.
