Currently, BIM development in China is thriving, with many companies integrating BIM into their projects. Nowadays, if you’re not familiar with BIM, it might feel embarrassing to claim you work in the construction industry. But what should companies focus on after adopting BIM? Today, the editor from BIM Architecture Training Network will share some insights.
1. Collaboration between Companies and Projects. Based on the BIM projects I’ve encountered, most implementations are driven by enterprises and then applied at the project level. Therefore, it’s crucial to address any conflicts between the enterprise’s goals and the specific project requirements.
2. Personnel Coordination. In practice, BIM teams often consist of staff from different project departments or even branch offices, making it challenging to synchronize working hours and coordinate efforts. It is ideal for the BIM manager to have full authority over personnel management and ensure that key team members are available when needed.
3. Avoid Detachment from Production. Timely communication of progress during each project phase is essential. Sometimes, BIM activities become disconnected from actual construction, with site management rarely interacting with the BIM office. Meanwhile, BIM engineers may be solely focused on modeling, causing BIM to become an isolated task rather than an integrated part of the construction process.
4. Maintain BIM Engineers’ Enthusiasm. Sustaining team motivation requires clear results and steady progress at every stage of the project.
As the editor of a BIM construction training website, these are the key points I can share for now. I encourage everyone to provide feedback and engage in discussions so that BIM can contribute effectively to the orderly and rational development of enterprises.
