Located in Haidian District, Beijing, the Phase III development of Zhongguancun Dongsheng Science and Technology Park is designed by Society Particular (SOPA). Construction began in 2020 and is expected to be completed by the second half of 2024, marking a new landmark for the area. The project spans 11.2 hectares with a total built-up area of 254,000 square meters.
Surrounded by rich greenery, the site borders the Beijing Tibet Expressway and green belts to the east, with the Xiaoyue River flowing along the west side. Within a 10-kilometer radius are notable natural attractions such as the Olympic Forest Park and the “Three Mountains and Five Gardens.” The design centers on “ecology,” aiming to create a harmonious “park complex” that coexists seamlessly with nature.

The project skillfully blends functionality with ecology through a three-dimensional park and a technology building. The three-dimensional park stands out with its terraced, multi-story podium that extends the natural ambiance into the building’s interior. This design connects the east-west green belt with the Xiaoyue River, integrating public amenities such as dining and cultural spaces to invigorate the surrounding area.
Serving as a green corridor, the park offers open leisure spaces for the public, creating a seamless link between the city, architecture, and nature. The technology building provides premium office spaces that break away from the typical closed office environment. It incorporates multiple shared areas to encourage communication and collaboration among businesses.
The building’s signature feature, the Social Cascade, arranges conference, exhibition, and relaxation zones along the stepped gable stairs. This layout maintains privacy while ensuring visual continuity, making it a distinctive architectural element.

Upon completion, this project will not only offer an innovative collaborative platform for enterprises, attracting tech companies and talent but also provide multifunctional leisure, cultural, and ecological spaces for the community.
It exemplifies a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, urban environments and technology, delivering valuable insights for future urban development. This initiative promotes global sustainable growth and technological innovation, heralding a new chapter in city planning.
