The sense of speed defines the character of this city. Rui’an, renowned for its electric vehicle components, plays a vital role in the upstream and downstream sectors of the new energy vehicle industry chain. This industry embodies “speed” and a “future-oriented” mindset. The city’s rapid growth in new energy vehicles is vividly reflected in its architectural identity.

Our goal was to capture the powerful energy generated by the city’s swift progress and translate it into architectural form. Massive, bold lines stretch from the city into the building, conveying a strong sense of dynamic force, while reflective surfaces lend the structure a futuristic aesthetic.

The project integrates multiple scales—city, architecture, interior, and human interaction—organized into three parts: a ground-level city square, a podium, and a tower. The podium serves as a commercial space and auditorium, while the tower houses offices. Typically, these urban functional modules operate independently with minimal connection.
However, a large concave belt unites these three parts, stretching from the city’s entrance square, across the podium facade, and up to the tower’s offices. This creates a continuous spatial connection that includes the building’s entrance square, facade transitions, and an indoor viewing platform offering panoramic views of the city’s vibrant pulse, establishing a cohesive urban image.

The building becomes an extension of the city’s reflection. Embedded within the glass curtain wall, the strip-shaped concave mirrors surrealistically integrate the urban landscape into the building’s volume. This visual layering turns the city’s imagery into a key architectural element.
The dynamic architectural form, symbolic of speed, combines with the transformed urban reflections, amplifying the building’s connection to the city both materially and conceptually.
