BIM technology offers significant value across various aspects of power engineering projects, including foundation work, structural construction, water supply and drainage systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical installations, intelligent systems, curtain walls, decoration and renovation, fire protection facilities, landscaping, roofing, elevator installation, and more.

1. Using construction management software, component status data from business systems—such as construction progress and material procurement—can be imported into i-model files derived from 3D models. The procurement and installation statuses are visually represented in different colors, enabling effective construction progress management. The comprehensive information model already contains design attributes, and by correlating these attributes with progress and procurement data, the 3D model’s attributes can be extended.
2. Construction progress management is enhanced through lifting and transportation simulations. Leveraging 3D design technology, simulations of equipment lifting and transportation—tasks that are challenging with traditional 2D methods—can be performed to validate and ensure the accuracy of design schemes. This integration allows static color-coded displays of procurement and installation statuses within the 3D model.
3. Mobile applications for BIM can operate in both offline and online modes. In offline mode, 3D models are published and accessed independently from the 3D platform, which is especially useful in construction sites with limited network access. In online mode, mobile devices connect remotely to the 3D platform via the internet, enabling real-time queries and updates of the 3D model data. With appropriate permissions, construction site information can be updated directly to the 3D model online.
In summary, these are key applications of BIM technology during the construction and supervision phases of power engineering projects. We hope this overview proves helpful to everyone involved!
