Overall Design Concept: Aged by Terroir and Evolved through Tradition
Terroir refers to the unique natural environment of a place—including its land, mountains, climate, local products—and the customs and traditions of its people. The ability to express these local characteristics is often a measure of a food’s quality. Yongchun boasts a distinctive natural environment ideal for vinegar brewing, with pristine air and water, as well as time-honored vinegar-making techniques passed down through generations.
Our design aims to create a park where visitors can immerse themselves in the art of red vinegar brewing within Yongchun’s unique climate. Guests will deeply experience the charm of traditional brewing, while also witnessing the innovation embedded in this intangible cultural heritage through the fusion of craftsmanship and modern technology.

The master plan preserves an open space with unobstructed views at the main entrance, designated as the Ancient Method Aging Square, dedicated to the aging and display of red glutinous rice vinegar. The building volumes are thoughtfully concentrated on the eastern side of the site, allowing the distant mountains and rivers to visually extend into the brewing square, creating a harmonious and inspiring setting.

Through close collaboration with process engineers, the production and sightseeing routes were seamlessly integrated despite limited land availability. The two paths remain independent yet organically connected without interference. The design preserves original industrial relics, such as chimneys and old facades, while the new structures employ natural materials like granite and steel. This creates a subtle dialogue between old and new, reflecting the factory’s blend of tradition and modernity.

The ancient method tour route at the front of the park features natural granite walls running throughout the area. These walls create a pure, rustic atmosphere, carefully framing visitors’ views to enhance their appreciation of the natural and traditional character of red vinegar.

Ancient Method Workshop: This workshop showcases the entire handmade brewing process of traditional Yongchun red vinegar. It is the most significant stop on the visitor route, allowing guests to witness the deep heritage and ongoing innovation of red vinegar culture.

After exploring the ancient workshop, visitors can proceed to the modern workshop, office, and experience areas. The modern workshop offers sightseeing opportunities including a laboratory and large-scale fermentation and filling production lines, all housed within a separate glass exhibition hall.
