The client requested a single-family residence designed with abundant greenery and a view of the adjacent park, while providing ample space to accommodate a large family. The first floor houses the head of household’s brother, his wife, and parents, whereas the second floor is dedicated to the head of household, his wife, and children. The basement features a home theater, bar, and gym, all connected to beautiful outdoor stairs, with a terrace that brings natural light into the basement space.
The site is bordered by residential buildings on three sides, with the shortest side facing the community park, offering a scenic view. Three mature trees along the site’s edges—one at the entrance and two at the rear—are preserved as per the client’s wishes.

As a multigenerational household, the client desired a balance between shared and private spaces. The parents, the brother’s family, and the client’s family each require their own private areas, while also having common spaces where the entire family can gather.

Design Proposal – Urban Living Embraced by Nature
In many urban settings, the connection between people and nature is often lost. This project aims to establish a green urban lifestyle that renews this relationship by integrating the surrounding environment into everyday living. Starting with the landscape design, the villa’s central concept is to maximize greenery on the site while capitalizing on the adjacent park’s natural landscape.
The uniquely shaped plot and the carefully designed community park serve as key inspirations in the design. The concept revolves around continuous greenery flowing from the southern park towards the north, shaping the architectural and landscape elements such as water features, hardscape, and softscape.

The building mass is positioned to one side of the site, creating a spacious landscaped garden on the west side that opens up to the double-height living and dining areas, extending into an outdoor living space. The architecture emerges organically from the landscape, blending the ground and roof into a seamless entity and establishing a vital outdoor connection for the villa.
This winding staircase-style walkway provides outdoor seating areas on the first floor and connects to the terrace above. The second-floor terrace serves as both a balcony and an entrance to the upper apartment. From this landscaped terrace, residents enjoy views of the community park and a strong connection to nature.

The existing mature trees on site have been carefully preserved, offering shade that creates a comfortable outdoor environment suited to Delhi NCR’s extreme climate. The facade is designed to appear divided into two volumes—a lighter, suspended upper level above a heavier base volume. The first-floor glass facade integrates with the outdoor greenery, while the second-floor concrete facade features recessed windows to minimize solar heat gain from direct sunlight.

The double-height living, dining, and open kitchen spaces seamlessly connect the two floors used by the smaller family units, strengthening family bonds within the larger household. The design incorporates sustainable strategies to create comfortable indoor and outdoor environments.
The first floor extends further on the southwest side, with the east facade designed to block summer sun. Water features on the ground floor and terrace promote evaporative cooling, while the green roof covered with soil and grass reduces heat gain, further enhancing energy efficiency.

Considering Delhi NCR’s hot climate, the design enhances comfort by utilizing shallow water features on the first floor oriented towards prevailing winds for evaporative cooling. The main southwest-facing facade is recessed to block direct sunlight during the day while maintaining visual openness through glass panels. In the evening, natural light fills the interior. The concrete upper level features deeply recessed windows to reduce solar heat gain from the southern sun.

The three mature trees on the site provide natural shade for the garden, helping to reduce direct sun exposure on the villa. Green coverage on the terrace and winding staircases further minimize heat gain. The design also optimizes cross ventilation by carefully considering prevailing wind directions.
