Ferring Pharmaceuticals A/S headquarters is situated in the prime coastal area of Øresund, just north of Copenhagen International Airport. The building is surrounded by low-rise developments and offers stunning views overlooking Malmö and the Swedish Gulf, the region where Huiling Pharmaceuticals was founded.

The headquarters stands on a pedestal that acts as the first line of defense against potential flooding. This base combines strength and adaptability, featuring solid street-level facilities alongside flexible landscaped areas designed to withstand harsh marine conditions. Above this sturdy foundation, the lightweight glass structure appears to float on the water, creating a striking contrast with the heavy base below. The building’s six floors feature outward-stacked floor slabs and cantilevered roofs, maximizing views, providing shaded outdoor areas on each level, and forming a dynamic internal atrium.

Shaped by its waterfront site, the building forms a triangular footprint surrounded by water. At its core, a spacious interior atrium features a tall wall that frames views of the Swedish coastline across the river. This central space includes an entrance hall, dining area, relaxation zones, conference and catering facilities, and social activity spaces. The areas around the atrium’s edge are flexible, allowing employees to easily rearrange furniture to suit different needs. Access to upper levels is provided by distinctive staircases and glass elevators, which enliven the atrium’s atmosphere and encourage interaction.

Offices and laboratories, designed for focused individual work, are positioned along the building’s perimeter to maximize natural light and scenic views. In contrast, collaborative meeting spaces are located closer to the atrium’s center, overlooking social areas illuminated by skylights. This layout fosters a lively architectural ambiance, bringing energy and interaction to every floor.

The building’s facade emphasizes horizontal lines, harmonizing with the surrounding low-rise urban fabric. Mechanical systems and the building’s core are cleverly integrated into the cantilevered roof design, ensuring a smooth and continuous silhouette. The atrium roof features a geometric glass mesh shell dome, engineered to distribute structural forces efficiently and framed by slender, lightweight components. Natural sunlight filters through the dome and curtain walls, creating a bright, airy workspace. Each three-layer glass panel of the dome was cold-bent, resulting in a striking architectural feature.
