The client, having lived in this house for many years, desired a fresh start and new living experience. In response, the architect preserved the original structural framework during the renovation, while removing old walls and stairs to create new circulation spaces and reconfigure the rooms.

The original house featured a typical rectangular layout with many small rooms, which limited space and natural light. To revitalize the living areas, the architect introduced a secondary pattern rotated 45 degrees to the original layout. Diagonal walls were inserted into the floor plan, reshaping the rooms, connecting them to the atrium, inner courtyard, and the new circulation core, thereby enhancing natural lighting throughout the home.

Dividing the triangular spaces with shared vertices allows easy access into each room. Furthermore, every room extends towards the atrium, promoting cross-ventilation and flexible use of space.

The diagonal motif is consistently applied throughout the home’s interior surfaces and openings. This is evident in details such as ceramic tiles, wood grain patterns, terrazzo walls, and the hollow brick system, all of which unify the project’s geometric design elements.
