Currently, the main BIM software used for engineering cost estimation in China includes Luban, Guanglian Da, and Qinghua Siwei. Among these, Guanglian Da and Luban are the most widely adopted. Below are the descriptions of these two software solutions:

1) Luban Software
Luban is the earliest BIM software applied in China for cost estimation. It offers excellent graphic visualization and fully supports Luban’s proprietary calculation files. The software enables immediate generation of budget files and bidding documents.
Luban is known for its comprehensive features, ease of use, and user-friendly interface. It includes corresponding lists and quotas from across the country and allows users to seamlessly switch between the “business tax” and “value-added tax” systems with just one click—no need to reorganize prices, reset quotas, or adjust conversion ratios.
Additionally, Luban can perform intelligent error detection and verify whether the pricing process complies with requirements. It provides cost estimators with powerful data editing and analysis tools, supporting estimates, budgets, and settlements efficiently.
2) Guanglian Da Cost Estimation Software
Guanglian Da is a well-known name in the cost estimation software industry. Founded in 1998, the company has been dedicated to developing pricing software and is a leader in the domestic market. Over the years, Guanglian Da has continuously advanced its technology to meet the demands of a competitive market.
Beyond pricing, the software has expanded its management capabilities, enhancing its overall functionality. This industry-leading position has made Guanglian Da one of the top software providers in China.
Today, Guanglian Da offers solutions across several areas: civil engineering, installation, steel reinforcement, decoration, municipal engineering, electrical engineering, steel structure calculation software, various pricing tools, and BIM construction.
In practical projects, engineers first obtain quantities through quantity calculation software and models. These quantities are then imported into Guanglian Da’s GBQ pricing software, which generates the final project cost.
Moreover, Guanglian Da has established a strategic partnership with Autodesk, facilitating seamless import and export of Revit files and Guanglian Da files. This interoperability enables users to create a model once and easily apply 3D models across platforms.
In cost control, BIM modeling’s value goes beyond its visual capabilities. The BIM database plays a crucial role in quickly calculating quantities, detecting clashes, and managing construction schedules, enabling comprehensive control throughout the construction process.
