Synchro is a traffic signal timing and optimization software developed by Trafficware, based on the US Department of Transportation’s Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) standards. It allows users to evaluate, optimize, and predict the service levels, vehicle operating efficiency, and emissions at unsignalized intersections, signalized intersections, and roundabouts.

Synchro is user-friendly and easy to learn, and it can be integrated with traditional traffic simulation software such as CORSIM and TRANSYT, enhancing its value in engineering applications.
The Synchro suite includes several components: Synchro, SimTraffic, 3D Viewer, and Warrants. The core component, Synchro, handles functions like evaluating and optimizing intersection service levels and signal timing.
SimTraffic focuses on simulating vehicle and pedestrian animations. With the 3D Viewer, users can create custom scenes or models tailored to their needs.
Warrants can be used independently or alongside Synchro to assess intersection networks. It evaluates intersections based on the MUTCD signal standards and guidelines.
Currently, Synchro has been updated to version 11. The following image illustrates the features and functional evolution across different versions.
