The development of BIM software in China began later than in other countries. Leading domestic vendors include Guanglian Da and Luban. These Chinese BIM solutions primarily focus on the application stage of BIM, offering capabilities such as project management, construction simulation, and automatic quantity calculation. However, their modeling functions remain relatively limited.
To enhance BIM modeling efficiency and user convenience, some design institutes have developed plugins based on popular platforms like Revit and MicroStation. Below is an introduction to some representative software and plugins:

1. Guanglian Da and Luban BIM Software
Both Guanglian Da and Luban BIM software adopt a modular design approach. Their functionalities are divided into various sub-modules, including engineering management, site layout, and automatic quantity calculation. For example, Guanglian Da offers modules like BIM5D, BIM construction site layout, and BIM template scaffolding design. Luban provides modules such as factory infrastructure, quality inspection and measurement, and collaboration tools.
These platforms do not offer universal modeling capabilities and rely on third-party software like Revit for model creation. In bridge engineering, Guanglian Da and Luban are typically used for management tasks at the project department level and above. However, their functional scope requires further development and expansion.
2. BIMCAD Road and Bridge Rapid Modeling Plugin
The BIMCAD Road and Bridge Rapid Modeling Plugin is a specialized Revit plugin designed to accelerate the bridge and road modeling process. Developed through secondary development of the Revit API, it supports bridge types such as continuous beams, T-beams, and small box girders.
This plugin allows users to quickly adjust the model based on changes in the route’s horizontal alignment, vertical profile, widening, and super elevation. Its interface and modeling results are intuitive and user-friendly.
However, the BIMCAD plugin cannot generate detailed elements like prestressed steel strands or tooth blocks. Additionally, the parameters for various bridge types are fixed to commonly used values. As a result, this plugin is primarily used for comparing and visualizing road and bridge design schemes rather than detailed modeling.
