Founded in the 1980s, Dassault established Dassault Systèmes—commonly referred to as Dassault. Currently, Dassault Systèmes offers 11 primary software products. Below is an introduction to the key software applications relevant to the field of engineering construction:
1. CATIA
An advanced CAD/CAM software known for its powerful parametric modeling capabilities, especially when modeling complex, irregular surfaces. It is widely used in bridge modeling within road and bridge engineering. The typical workflow involves “skeleton → template → instantiation,” supporting the expansion of template and component libraries. CATIA enables parametric creation of various models, including steel structures, supports model-based 2D drawings, 3D collision detection, and material usage statistics.
2. SolidWorks
A versatile 3D modeling software with comprehensive modeling functions. Once a leader in mechanical manufacturing design, SolidWorks was later acquired by Dassault Systèmes. It offers parametric modeling and associative relationships, supports 2D drawing outputs, and allows import/export of multiple file formats.
3. ENOVIA
Dassault Systèmes’ collaborative platform software designed to support the entire project lifecycle. ENOVIA facilitates process management, business administration, data governance, and monitoring, connecting all project participants on a single platform to enable seamless collaboration.
4. DELMIA
Commonly used in engineering construction for construction progress simulation, DELMIA is a process management simulation software. It has a proven track record in manufacturing industries for simulating and managing factory assembly line processes.
5. SIMULIA
Dassault Systèmes’ simulation and analysis software, SIMULIA leverages a collaborative platform to analyze realistic scenarios and share simulation data effectively among users.
