Construction projects are complex, systematic undertakings that require clear division of each phase and effective management of objectives, information flow, and coordination to achieve collaborative goals. BIM technology offers robust support for managing information throughout construction projects. By leveraging information management techniques, it enables companies to break down tasks, continuously update and record data, and ensure timely access to information. This capability allows for real-time monitoring, statistical analysis, and more. Additionally, BIM breaks down departmental responsibilities, allowing tasks to be assigned within the system and their progress to be tracked.
However, due to the complexity of operating BIM systems and limited adoption by on-site personnel and construction teams, BIM tools tend to be primarily used for system design, cost estimation, and clash detection. In many other areas, BIM utilization remains low. This results in delays in updating and accessing information within BIM, leading to poor communication, weak interdepartmental collaboration, and increased project risks. To address this challenge, integrating a comprehensive collaborative management framework with BIM usage has proven effective. This approach helps companies achieve better coordination and management under current conditions.

Figure 1: Schematic diagram of the collaborative management mechanism
As illustrated in Figure 1, during the construction process, developing a well-structured project workflow and modeling it through BIM allows seamless integration between the project phases and the BIM system. This integration facilitates effective information management and data support at every stage of the project. When real-time data exchange is not possible within the BIM system, it becomes essential to assign responsible personnel for each stage to supervise and control. These individuals coordinate data communication and ensure smooth information flow beyond what BIM data alone can provide.
