With the advancement and widespread adoption of BIM technology, numerous BIM-related software solutions have emerged globally in the construction sector. These primarily include BIM modeling software, BIM scheme design software, BIM structural analysis software, BIM cost management software, comprehensive BIM model collision detection software, and BIM operation software. The diversity of BIM software types offers a complete range of functions, each focusing on different aspects of construction management and design.

(1) Autodesk Series Software: Autodesk offers a broad range of software covering fields such as civil engineering, municipal engineering, and mechanical engineering. It holds a significant market share due to its affordable usage costs, user-friendly operation, and convenient 3D model visualization along with 2D drafting capabilities. However, the inconsistency in data formats across various platforms complicates data transfer. Moreover, Autodesk software demands high hardware specifications, which challenges the handling of large datasets.
(2) Bentley Series Software: Bentley provides powerful modeling tools widely used in architectural design, industrial design, and infrastructure construction. This software boasts strong professionalism, excellent data management, unified data interfaces, and historical tracking features. It records model changes such as additions and deletions, facilitating easy comparison between versions. Despite these strengths, Bentley software faces challenges including high software and hardware costs, a steep learning curve, complex data format conversions, and difficulties in information exchange and widespread adoption, particularly when compared with domestic BIM software.
(3) Tekla Series Software: Taking the Finnish-developed steel structure detailing software Xsteel as an example, Tekla excels in information exchange, transmission, and processing. It offers robust steel structure modeling capabilities with high data processing and report accuracy, making it suitable for integrated deepening, processing, and construction solutions. Nonetheless, its drawbacks include limited expressive capabilities, high software and hardware costs, and average performance in engineering visualization.

(4) Cost Management Software Series: Domestic cost management software, represented by Guanglian Da, integrates BIM models from various disciplines such as construction engineering, structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, and site layout onto a unified platform. It links real-time information on quality, cost, schedules, safety, and engineering data throughout the construction process, providing reliable data support. This enables refined construction management, reduces engineering changes, shortens project cycles, and improves overall quality. The software supports comprehensive integration of models in multiple file formats, offers precise algorithms, and delivers accurate engineering quantity data.
However, Guanglian Da software also has notable limitations. It struggles to achieve seamless data conversion with mainstream BIM software like Revit, leading to inevitable data loss during model information exchanges. The universality and compatibility of its model information require further enhancement.
