The Timeline tool in Navisworks allows you to manually input or import external schedules. By linking tasks from the schedule to objects (collections or animations) within the model, you can simulate construction processes. Adding resources and cost data to tasks enables resource allocation and cost control for virtual construction. When combined with Animator, Timeline lets you attach animations to progress tasks, select objects to move, and schedule their movements based on task start times and durations. This integration supports detailed spatial and process planning for each task.

Microsoft Project is one of the most widely used project management tools globally, developed by Microsoft Corporation. It is designed to assist in creating development plans, allocating resources, tracking progress, managing budgets, and analyzing workloads. This software is extensively used across IT integration, software development, new product launches, real estate, design, engineering construction, investment projects, and many other enterprise-level projects. This article references MSP Project 2010 to develop a schedule plan. Using planned start and completion dates along with task dependencies, a comprehensive project timeline (Gantt chart) is created, along with resource charts. By regularly updating the schedule with actual progress, project managers can assess current status and adjust unfinished tasks, ensuring overall project progress control.
(4) Visual Construction Simulation in Navisworks
The model created in Revit contains critical structural information—including component dimensions, material properties, and spatial locations. Importing this BIM core model into Navisworks and enriching it with additional project details such as material delivery times, construction sequences, and storage locations is essential for visualization. The construction simulation process involves running pre-construction simulations to perform clash detection, identify potential issues, and iteratively refine project details. Selecting an appropriate construction plan is the cornerstone of effective construction organization and design.
