What is Natural Wine?
Natural wine is crafted from organically or biodynamically grown grapes, using minimal synthetic chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or vulcanizers in the vineyard. During the winemaking process, no laboratory-cultured yeast is introduced, and no sugars, acids, or sulfur dioxide (SO2) are added. Additionally, the wine undergoes no filtration or clarification, minimizing human intervention.
Natural wine does not conform to market trends, nor does it follow the standard style of any particular winery brand.
It represents the purest expression of nature, reflecting the local climate and the craftsmanship of the winemaker.
‘Madmen’
Those who dedicate themselves to natural wine are often seen as somewhat “mad.” Driven by their passion, they cultivate vast vineyards of their beloved grapes in the wild. Their fascination with the wine’s untamed character leads them to study ancient texts and seek simpler fermentation methods. This group is independent and deeply committed, confident in their love for natural wine despite worldly opinions.

Wine Nuts was founded by several women born in the 1990s, all deeply passionate about natural fermentation and organic growth. They are a group of “madmen” who cherish and respect the land beneath their feet, steadfastly favoring authenticity and natural food.

Stonehenge
Drawing inspiration from natural wine and the brand concept of “Wine Madman,” we identified the keywords “primitive” and “natural” as the core themes guiding our design from start to finish.

On Salisbury Plain, southwest of London, massive stones rise from the lush wilderness, creating a mysterious and powerful space that feels both primitive and natural.

Large stone columns are positioned throughout the space, providing structural division while offering a sense of inner support and security.

The abstract grooved surfaces evoke a raw, primitive strength, complemented by psychedelic and ambiguous lighting that creates a mysterious yet inviting atmosphere for enjoying drinks.

During construction, the original stone texture was intentionally avoided. Instead, abstract geometric shapes were chosen, with artificial grooves and rough textures creating a primitive yet refined aesthetic. After extensive testing of cement moisture and gap density, the grooving process was designed to minimize later human intervention, with the final texture influenced by weather and indoor temperature conditions.

A massive 5-meter-high, 2.3-meter-long rock stands vertically at the main entrance, piercing through the glass into the interior. This design allows visitors to move between the real and the abstract, offering a profound ritual experience for “wine maniacs” eager to explore the allure of natural wine.

The ancient path to the Stonehenge pillars aligns with the sunrise on the summer solstice, while two other stones point toward the sunset on the winter solstice. This orientation connects the stones to the passage of time, blending space and temporal cycles.

From seedling to grape cluster to bottle of wine, natural growth requires patience. This production cycle reflects the lunar phases at our doorstep, symbolizing the natural passage of time.

Under the night sky, light and shadow dance across the screen, with shadows lurking behind the light. Each moon phase carries its own unique character.

Wine Cellar
Natural wine labels are full of creativity and design, with each bottle offering an unpredictable taste. This uniqueness does not suit traditional naming or ordering systems. To embrace this, the design features a walk-in wine cellar, allowing customers an immersive wine selection experience.

The wine cellar is constructed with glass and wooden shelves. Upon entering, visitors feel enveloped as they descend into the sunken space.

At night, twelve moon lights illuminate the space while towering boulders form a mysterious backdrop. The walls and columns, rough yet refined, resemble an ancient formation, inviting visitors to step into a timeless realm.
