BIM heterogeneous data for the construction phase refers to a broad category of BIM model data created by various BIM software systems and organized differently by multiple project participants throughout the construction process.

BIM heterogeneous data in the construction phase can be categorized based on the following criteria:
1. Data Source: When classified by data source, the heterogeneous data is grouped according to the creators’ roles, representing different project participants. For instance, BIM model data produced during the design phase is created by designers responsible for architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines. This model data serves all subsequent phases, including construction. In contrast, BIM data related to construction phase project management includes information such as progress updates and cost tracking.
2. Software Application: BIM technology is primarily implemented through various software products. Based on the project participants served by these tools, the software can be grouped into core BIM modeling software, design analysis software, BIM visualization and clash detection software, and BIM construction cost software used during the design stage.
3. Data Structure Type: Based on data structure and semantic format, heterogeneous BIM data can be divided into structured and unstructured types. Structured data mainly consists of BIM geometric model information, focusing on the spatial and geometric attributes of model elements. Unstructured data, on the other hand, centers around project management information generated during the virtual or physical construction of engineering components.
