BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an innovative approach to architectural design, construction, and management that relies on 3D digital technology. It integrates all data from the planning, design, construction, and operational phases into a single 3D model. This enables stakeholders at any stage of the building’s lifecycle to access accurate and comprehensive information, enhancing decision-making efficiency and precision for project designers.

BIM Responsibilities of the Construction General Contracting Unit
The construction general contracting unit must establish an internal BIM team, appoint a BIM leader and BIM technicians, and provide essential equipment such as laptops capable of running collaborative platforms. This support allows the BIM consulting unit to develop detailed implementation plans for each project stage.
The general contractor is responsible for collaborating on the integration and refinement of various specialized BIM models, providing timely progress updates and completion data, maintaining and updating the BIM progress model, and assisting the BIM consulting unit in delivering the finalized model.
Utilizing BIM technology, the contractor aids in preparing construction execution plans and managing materials and equipment. This includes tasks such as simulating construction site layouts, conducting construction simulations, producing visual disclosure animations, and organizing documentation for project completion disclosures.
Additionally, the contractor simulates animations related to equipment installation, manages the submission of equipment acceptance materials, and provides detailed equipment data—including specifications, manufacturer details, contact information, and operation manuals. They complete the entry of equipment information and upload required files within specified deadlines, following the BIM collaborative platform’s file naming and storage protocols.
Finally, the construction general contracting unit works closely with the supervision team to fulfill collaborative platform management tasks, supports the BIM consulting unit in managing subcontracted specialties, and cooperates fully to complete other related responsibilities.
