Alibaba’s first operational park is located in Hangzhou’s Binjiang District. As the company rapidly expands, it requires additional high-quality space for independent research and development. The second phase of the park serves as a complementary extension to the initial phase, catering to R&D needs while showcasing Alibaba’s architectural identity and embodying the company’s corporate culture.

The Growth of Cities: Harmonious and Unified Park Design
The Phase I park features dynamic, twisting building forms full of vitality. In Phase II, the design focuses on unifying, coordinating, and extending these twisting architectural blocks. Landscape pathways and elevated corridors are integrated, resembling the winding roots and branches of large trees, naturally spreading throughout the site. Together, the two phases are seamlessly connected, complementing each other in design and function.

The master plan includes a comprehensive service building east of the park entrance and four office buildings. The twisting shapes of the blocks adapt to the site’s irregular terrain, enclosing a shared central plaza. The architectural approach employs a “high exterior, low interior” technique, creating a north-to-south orientation that is surrounded by natural landscapes of mountains and water. The central courtyard within the building ensures ample natural lighting and serves as a communal space for employees.

Multi-Dimensional Landscape Trail System
The park features a separation of pedestrian and vehicular traffic at the entrance, with the central plaza acting as the main ground-level distribution hub. A radial road network allows employees and visitors to navigate quickly and efficiently. On the second floor, a delicate ring corridor encircles the buildings with a polygonal layout, linking structures together to provide connectivity and flexible spatial arrangements.

Green Lung Ecology: Multi-Level Ecological Landscape Gardens
Introducing “green lungs” connects wetlands to the urban environment on a city-wide scale, allowing the park to self-regulate its microclimate and microenvironment. This approach creates a “park office” concept. The twisting architectural forms naturally divide the site into various outdoor spaces. The green areas scattered throughout the building complex are designed as diamond-shaped islands with diverse landscaping, enriching the spatial quality of this industrial city park.

The Phase II park plan aims to collaborate closely with Alibaba Group to express corporate identity through architectural design, embody corporate culture, explore innovative approaches, create an inspiring work environment, and foster harmonious development alongside the city — achieving coexistence, integration, and mutual success.
