Though the last century has passed, Audrey Hepburn’s timeless elegance continues to grace the pages of this century. Her style and grace define an era, embodying the ultimate ideal of beauty for many. Her influence on fashion endures, and the beauty reflected in her spirit remains everlasting.

This project features a boutique named AUDREY, inspired by the brand’s identity shared by its manager and tailored to the needs of the buying shop. The designer focused on capturing the attitude the space should convey, guiding the design language beyond mere spatial forms or visual effects.

Like Audrey Hepburn herself, the AUDREY manager embodies a gentle appearance paired with strong determination — an attitude the designer sought to express through the space. This creates an environment where visitors experience a balance of strength and softness within the architectural construction.

When a clothing retailer’s attitude is classic and enduring, it establishes a confident brand identity and attracts its audience. The designer’s vision goes beyond fleeting trends, aiming instead to create a timeless balance — a dialogue bridging past and future.

Upon entering the boutique, customers are welcomed by a symmetrically enclosed open display area. The centerpiece features five single rest chairs arranged to quietly convey a subtle yet ceremonious sense of hospitality.

Objects define the space, serving both functional needs and fundamental spatial elements. In this design, elegant free-flowing curves blend with sharp geometric shapes, arranged symmetrically to structure the entire environment.

The designer’s careful material selection shapes the space’s form and arrangement. Soft fabrics and vintage wood offset the cold, hard textures of concrete and metal. This material diversity blurs boundaries between spatial elements, enriching the value and atmosphere of the environment. The space engages in a dialogue with the brand, establishing an attitude, conveying a message to the market, and pursuing timeless beauty.

Set against elegant, flowing curves, the plain concrete surfaces are free of ornamentation, designed to hang clothing and create a comfortable, artistic, and relaxed spatial atmosphere.

To achieve timelessness, one must embrace both past and future. Philosophers use the term “Hauntology” to explain why retro-futurism captivates us. The era we inhabit is shaped by an overlap of past and future, evoking feelings both familiar and strange.

The designer drew on the concept of futurism, blending retro and futuristic elements to create a space that balances the tensions between past, present, and future — forming a brand-new environment that naturally reveals itself.

The designer recreated the main building using individual architectural elements, each featuring similar or varied forms and distinct functions. The spatial and material language remains simple and consistent, unifying all interior and exterior expressions through one or two design languages.

Elegant flowing curves and bold geometric shapes combine to shape the space symmetrically. Within one enclosed symmetrical structure, a resting chair quietly expresses a subtle yet formal welcoming atmosphere.

The boldly colored spiral staircase emotionally connects the upper and lower floors. Soft fabric on the steps creates a gentle, dynamic flow, infusing the space with a romantic and lively ambiance. This technique enhances color brightness and uses curves to unify spatial boundaries, tightly linking the two levels.

The second floor serves as a VIP display area, designed to offer a more ceremonial experience. The space adopts a church-inspired architectural form to align with the boutique’s brand philosophy, continuing the symmetrical design language from the first floor’s central axis. This creates a sacred, solemn atmosphere that substitutes for staff presence, providing an open yet dignified environment.

Freedom takes many forms — classic freedom, eternal freedom — but ultimately it is an expression of emotion rather than a visual concept. This space attracts consumers through its atmosphere and conveys its underlying attitude effectively.

Design is a form of communication. By using color, structure, and lighting to create an atmosphere that resonates with visitors, designers enable a deeper experiential connection. The simplicity of architecture, clarity of construction, and purity of materials form a fresh spatial aesthetic.
