Photographer Mengzhu Jiang captured the interior of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences building at Osaka University of the Arts.

This project was designed by SANAA, the architectural firm founded by Pritzker Prize laureates Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa. Since its completion in 2018, the building has served as the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Osaka University of the Arts.

Architect Ryue Nishizawa carefully integrated concrete and glass structures into the curved landscape of the Osaka University of the Arts campus. The design features a three-layer roof composed of undulating concrete canopies.

From Jiang Mengzhu’s photographs, it is clear that the building’s glass and concrete elements harmonize with the surrounding environment, complementing the styles of other campus buildings.

The first floor is designed as a spacious, flexible area with tables and chairs arranged throughout the open-plan layout.

More private areas are located along the edges of the building, separated from the central spaces by aluminum panels.
