BIM Architecture | Designing Landscapes and Expansive Skies

Home is more than just physical space; it’s a reflection of the spirit. The “+” in H+ represents our life. This project is located in Forest Language, Yuxi City. The original layout and flow of the first floor had significant issues, so I renovated it to not only resolve these problems but also to add independent dining and tea rooms.

The foyer is a crucial part of any home, creating the first impression upon entry. For this entrance, I introduced the concept of “four seasons at home.” What symbolizes the four seasons? I envisioned book pages, which inspired an artistic expression of the seasons within the home.

While discussing with the homeowner, I learned that she is an avid book lover with a vast collection at home. She also desired a cozy reading atmosphere. This inspired me to incorporate a library concept with tall bookshelves and a ladder for access. The fusion of library and home led me to name this project “Book Realm.”

The study continues the library theme, offering a bright and relaxed reading area where family members can enjoy their books.

△ Study Room

For the children’s room, I avoided the typical princess-style pink wallpaper and white European beds. Instead, I chose two colors: Grandma Grey and Princess Pink, inspired by playful animal characters like the mischievous skunk, honest ostrich, moody zebra, and joyful trio of brothers — adding whimsy and fun for the kids.

△ Bedroom

A family’s belongings often carry memories and emotions, which I believe are important to preserve. That’s why I integrated these elements into the elders’ room. By reorganizing spatial functions, I created an ideal walk-in closet and bathroom for the homeowners.

When designing the master bedroom, I recalled a moment during a vacation in the Greater Khingan Range: after a heavy snowfall, the forest lay in quiet slumber while I warmed myself by the fire in a small wooden cabin. Gazing out at the snowy landscape, a warm feeling filled my heart — a pure moment of happiness that I wanted to pass on. This inspired a warm, peaceful sleeping space.

The bathroom is a symbol of taste and should never be overlooked. It supports our daily rituals—cleansing, refreshing, and restoring ourselves. Why not make it bright and airy? This inspired a transparent, sunlit bathroom with fresh air circulation. The oversized rain showerhead lets you experience the sensation of bathing in the rain, anytime you wish.

I truly appreciate the saying: design is for people, and serving their life needs is the ultimate goal.

One sip after another, worries fade away.
Eyes clear of dust, mind at ease.
Half a day of leisure, escaping worldly concerns.
Between the pages, timeless emotions flow.
Books warm the winter chill and comfort life’s journey.
Revisiting old tales, absorbing new knowledge, nurturing and calming the self — this is the “mirror of books” that warms the soul.
