This project is situated in the Tangzi Lane Community on Wujing Road, Kunming City. The building complex was originally an old industrial factory staff dormitory, part of Kunming City’s historical planning and development. Surrounding commercial areas are rapidly evolving with diverse formats and vibrant economic activity.
The owner is a rising star in Yunnan’s local hotel industry, supported by a professional, young, and dynamic operations and management team. After thorough market research and planning, this location was chosen for a new branch of Private Joy Hotel, destined to undergo a transformation akin to a butterfly’s rebirth.

Theme Concept: “Blooming • Butterfly Loves Flower”
The phrase “Butterfly Love Flower” was originally a brand name, and here we embrace its original meaning. Kunming is famously known as the City of Spring, with flowers blooming year-round. Many people’s first impression of Yunnan is a bouquet of flowers, making the floral industry a crucial pillar of the local economy.
The property owners aspired to embody the essence of flowers in their brand identity, aiming for the company’s image to be as enduring and vibrant as Kunming’s eternal blossoms. They wanted the hotel space to be infused with the scent and spirit of flowers, creating an immersive experience where guests feel enveloped in a sea of blossoms during their stay.

While the desire to make the hotel brand as beloved as flowers is beautiful, the reality posed challenges. The key was how to effectively translate these heartfelt concepts into the hotel’s physical space, turning dreams into tangible experiences.
To achieve this, the lead designer guided the team through multiple on-site surveys, collecting precise spatial data and aerial photographs of the main building to inform feasible and practical design solutions.
Amid the high expectations of the property owners, the first proposal was submitted. The creative concept, centered around “Butterfly Lovers,” was both beautiful and practical, exciting the owner’s operational team. The post-85s generation chairman responded with a smile as radiant as a blooming flower.

The design breaks away from traditional layouts by employing sculptural techniques to shape spatial dimensions. It expresses the characteristics of the space through abstract floral concepts, transitioning from the idea of butterflies being attracted into the room to vivid decorations of colorful butterflies fluttering around. This makes the theme “Butterfly Love Flower” both clear and immersive.
Importantly, all functional aspects of the space have been carefully considered, achieving a harmonious balance between aesthetics and usability.
