Self-Owned House: The owner’s father is a kind, simple farmer in his late 80s. To enhance his daily life, we designed a flower bed by the window, a vegetable garden, a long table for playing chess, and a low stool where he can bask comfortably in the afternoon sun. We hope the warm sunlight will always illuminate his gentle face in his own home.
Homestay: The homestay brand is called “Night Star House,” symbolizing a courtyard illuminated by several stars. To complement this concept, we incorporated a triangular tent-like structure with a skylight into the design, blending harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.
Self-Owned House + Homestay: The ideal homestay experience is when the owner frequently spends time with guests, sharing stories about local customs and nearby natural attractions such as mountains and rivers. The design provides a window where the elderly can meet and interact, while also ensuring private spaces between the owner’s residence and the homestay. This unique arrangement captures the essence of rural homestays — offering guests an authentic experience filled with warmth, simplicity, and genuine hospitality. In such a setting, visitors feel relaxed and deeply moved. May the kind smile of the elderly owner remain a cherished memory for every guest!
