This geometrically shaped residence is situated on the edge of a vast rainforest in the suburbs of Bangkok. Despite its proximity to city infrastructure, including transportation hubs, the surrounding environment remains peaceful, friendly, and closely connected to nature. Within this captivating setting, the architect thoughtfully organized three distinct functional zones: the main house, a glass house, and a sports field.

Sometimes, the inspiration behind a design concept doesn’t come solely from the physical characteristics of the site. In this case, the residence’s concept emerged from the architect’s emotional experience of “moments of movement and interpretation” during the initial site analysis. The name “Twist” reflects the winding growth and twisting winds shaping the large rainforest trees. This observation also inspired a guiding principle: to minimize interference with the site and preserve its unique natural state.

Preserving the natural elements of the site was the biggest challenge. Despite exhaustive efforts, finding a layout that met all requirements proved difficult, as it would have resulted in a much larger building footprint. Ultimately, some adjustments to the natural environment were necessary. A large tree at the rear of the property was removed, and at that location, the main transportation hub for the residence was established as a nostalgic symbol.

The circular form and sculptural spiral staircase perfectly illustrate the main traffic core. The geometric layout of the second floor—which includes public spaces such as the family living room, dining area, and pantry—rotates clockwise around this circular staircase, maintaining a respectful distance from the existing trees at the front of the house.
