This wooden house is nestled on a spacious plot within a Mediterranean garden. Designed as a temporary retreat, it offers the homeowner a perfect space for relaxation and leisure. The concept of the wooden house emerges from in-depth research on materials and structural systems, tailored to accommodate various functional needs.

The design concept highlights the expressive and poetic use of wood. The house features an open structure with multiple entrances and exits, creating a dynamic matrix of varied atmospheres that blend the interior and exterior spaces, including their transitional zones. The roof showcases traditional tiles in assorted sizes and colors, forming a large, deep porch. This porch is defined by long overhanging beams that shape the transition between the house, the surrounding park, and the swimming pool.

The wooden house defies traditional architectural elements: it lacks conventional doors, windows, solid walls, and structural components made of concrete or brick. It does not have typical rooms, multiple floors, or basements. There are no permanent residents, no classical spatial hierarchy, and no clearly defined residential functions. Instead, the compact structure beneath the roof supports a variety of leisure activities, incorporating all necessary spaces, appliances, and equipment. The area bridging the interior and exterior is positioned at the corner of the building and functions as a winter and summer garden, enclosed by polycarbonate and polypropylene panels.

Wooden houses strive to create a distinct spatial atmosphere by utilizing traditional materials and construction techniques. This project embodies what is called ‘radical normality.’ The open structure, made with overlooked and seldom-used materials and methods, transcends conventional minimalism and mundane contemporary forms.
