The owners of this project are a couple of landscape designers who cherish tranquility and a natural lifestyle. The spatial layout is uniquely distinctive, featuring staggered structures across the basement, first, and second floors. This design fosters interaction between different levels, creating dynamic connections between people and the spaces they inhabit. Such openness reveals everyday life’s intricate details throughout the home.
The central courtyard and staircase serve as the heart of the space. A green maple tree, transplanted from an old residence, thrives in the courtyard, bringing nature indoors. The basement tea area, first-floor living room, and second-floor kitchen are all embraced by the courtyard’s greenery, blending harmoniously with the natural environment and creating a warm, lively atmosphere.

▲ 1F Courtyard
The first-floor living room preserves the original wall structure, finished with white brushed art paint to create a clean, serene tone. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels at the front open the space to the garden, making the natural landscape a stunning backdrop for the living area. This design respects nature’s presence, fostering a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors, inviting residents to relax and engage with their surroundings.
The living room is arranged as an open tea tasting area, supported by existing structural columns. A movable walnut screen separates the tea space from the courtyard, allowing flexible interaction with sunlight, fresh air, and greenery as it opens and closes.

▲ 1F Dining Room
The staircase is crafted from North American walnut wood, dividing the original multi-level stairwell into left and right sections (designed using BIM). This softens the space’s rigidity, adding warmth and blurring boundaries to foster emotional connections between the upper and lower floors.

▲ 2F Second Bedroom
The entire third floor is dedicated to the master suite, featuring a courtyard window at the top of the stairs that floods the area with natural light. The master bedroom incorporates several sliding screen doors that connect with an open study area when opened. The owner is an avid reader with an extensive book collection, displayed in a neat, organized manner.
The study is divided into a reading section and a washroom area, offering versatile spaces for different activities such as reading, tea drinking, and resting, embodying a truly comfortable lifestyle.
